Head Instructor - Professor Jeremy Jones - Rokudan

Professor Jeremy Jones began his jujitsu training in 1991 at the Salem Budokai and trained up to Shodan before moving to Colorado after graduating college. There he began studying with Sensei Kevin Ott of Kokua Jujitsu Kai and joined the American Judo and Jujitsu Federation. When he moved to Utah he began to study with his current sensei, Professor Robert Hodgkin. He was awarded his Rokudan from the AJJF in April 2023 and the title of Professor in 2024. He also studied American Kenpo Karate and earned his 1st degree black belt in that system under Lou Donadio.  Professor Jones ran the Corvallis Jujitsu Kai before moving to the Portland, OR area where he is the head instructor of North Portland Danzan Ryu.

Ed Hoeffliger - Yodan

Ed Hoeffliger began his training in 2005 under Professor Kevin Colton at the Santa Clarita Valley School of Jujitsu. Ed earned his Yodan, or fourth-degree black belt, in February of 2024. Ed is an Army veteran who works as a senior safety consultant and holds a JD from Willamette University College of Law. Ed also trains in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at Impact, Newberg.

Timur Mammadov - Nidan

Tim began his training in 2015 under Professor Don Cross of the Jujitsu-Do Martial Arts Center in Eugene Oregon. Tim earned his Nidan, or second degree black belt, in 2022. Tim also holds a first-degree black belt in Aikikai Aikido, and currently trains at the Obukan Judo Dojo in Portland.

Ryan McDaniel - Nidan

Ryan McDaniel started his martial arts journey in 2003 at The Evergreen State College Danzan-Ryu Jujitsu Club. He has studied Danzan-Ryu Jujitsu under Professors Sue and Ron Jennings of the KaishinKai, and Yoshokai Aikido under David Sheer Sensei of Aikido Portland. He currently holds the rank of Nidan (second-degree black belt) in Danzan-Ryu Jujitsu and Ikkyu (first-degree brown belt) in Yoshokai Aikido. In 2010, Ryan started North Portland Kaishinkai Danzan Ryu at the location where we practice today.

Greg Catanese - Shodan

Greg began studying Danzan-Ryu jujitsu in 1987 and earned his Shodan at Chico Kodenkan under Sensei Rich Radcliffe. He started Vancouver Kodenkan in 2010 and is currently the student of Professor Delina Fuchs. He went on to earn a doctorate of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine and has run a private practice specializing in orthopedic acupuncture in Vancouver, WA since 2002. Greg has also earned a second degree black belt in Budoshin jujitsu under Sensei Jeff Wynn, a brown belt in Kajukenbo with Sifu David Huffaker, and has graduated the Restorative Therapy Module One program at the Danzan-Ryu Seifukujitsu Institute.

Drew White - Nikyu

Drew White began training in Danzan-Ryu Jujitsu in late 2018 under Sensei Duane Sheely in Lehi, Utah, where he earned his Sankyu (third-degree brown belt) in 2022. In the fall of 2022, Drew moved to Portland, Oregon, and continued his training under Professor Jeremy Jones at North Portland Danzan Ryu, earning his Nikyu (second-degree brown belt) in December 2024.
