Head Instructor - Professor Jeremy Jones - Rokudan

Jeremy began his jujitsu training in 1991 at the Salem Budokai, where he earned his first-degree black belt in Danzan-Ryu Jujitsu. After graduating from the University of Oregon, Jeremy moved to Colorado where he joined the American Judo and Jujitsu Federation and trained with Kevin Ott at Kokua Jujitsu Kai. A few years later Jeremy moved to Utah and became a student of Professor Robert Hodgkin, who is still his sensei. In April 2023, Jeremy was awarded the rank of Rokudan, or sixth-degree black belt. Then, in March of 2024, he was given the title of Professor by the AJJF. Jeremy is also a first-degree black belt in American Kenpo under Lou Donadio of Aurora Martial Arts in Corvallis, and a graduate of the Danzan-Ryu Seifukujutsu Institute Restorative Therapy Module One program. Professionally, Jeremy is a doctor of physical therapy working in the Portland Metro area.

Ed Hoeffliger - Yodan

Ed Hoeffliger began his training in 2005 under Professor Kevin Colton at the Santa Clarita Valley School of Jujitsu. Ed earned his Yodan, or fourth-degree black belt, in February of 2024. Ed is an Army veteran who works as a senior safety consultant and holds a JD from Willamette University College of Law. Ed also trains in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at Impact, Newberg.

Timur Mammadov - Nidan

Tim began his training in 2015 under Professor Don Cross of the Jujitsu-Do Martial Arts Center in Eugene Oregon. Tim earned his Nidan, or second degree black belt, in 2022. Tim also holds a first-degree black belt in Aikikai Aikido, and currently trains at the Obukan Judo Dojo in Portland.

Ryan McDaniel - Nidan

Ryan McDaniel started his martial arts journey in 2003 at The Evergreen State College Danzan-Ryu Jujitsu Club. He has studied Danzan-Ryu Jujitsu under Professors Sue and Ron Jennings of the KaishinKai, and Yoshokai Aikido under David Sheer Sensei of Aikido Portland. He currently holds the rank of Nidan (second-degree black belt) in Danzan-Ryu Jujitsu and Ikkyu (first-degree brown belt) in Yoshokai Aikido. In 2010, Ryan started North Portland Kaishinkai Danzan Ryu at the location where we practice today.
